Shotvik documentation
Shotvik renders web pages and HTML in a real Chromium browser and returns an image or a PDF.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- URL to PNG, JPEG or PDF. Screenshot any public web page, including full-page captures. See Screenshot a URL.
- HTML to PNG or JPEG. Send your own HTML and CSS and get an image back. See Render HTML.
- OG images (1200×630 PNG). Generate Open Graph images from your own HTML templates with full CSS (grid, web fonts), from built-in templates (
basic, article) or stored templates, and embed them with a signed URL. See OG images.
WebP is not offered in v1.
Your data
Section titled “Your data”Processing and storage in the EU. Rendering, the opt-in cache, the database, logs and backups run on Hetzner servers in Germany or Finland. API traffic goes straight to those servers, not through a CDN.
No render storage by default. Renders are streamed back to you and not stored. Caching happens only when you ask for it (for example for public OG image links), on our Hetzner servers, with a maximum lifetime.
How Shotvik works
Section titled “How Shotvik works”- Honest rendering. Every render’s User-Agent always contains the token
ShotvikBot/0.1 (+https://shotvik.com/bot)(see ShotvikBot). There is no stealth mode, no captcha or bot-detection bypass, and no proxies. If a site blocks Shotvik, that’s the site’s choice. - OG images with full CSS. Because rendering happens in real Chromium, layouts that need CSS grid or web fonts work.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Quickstart: your first screenshot with curl, JavaScript, Python or PHP.
- Authentication: API keys and signed URLs.
- Dynamic OG images: with guides for Next.js and Astro.
- Rate limits and plans.
